Pusong Mamon

Kalahe? Ahhh “Kalahe” o “Tinapay Bundok”, tawag ng mga calambeño sa Mamon. Oo, ang tawag ko dito Mamon. . Ikaw anong tawag mo dito?
Filipinos own version of Muffin.
This morning, our family friend brought us mamon for breakfast and amazing it was! While eating it, it could transform you into a MAMON EATING MACHINE like Papa does! Funny so beware :) it was really good! Better if you eat it while it’s hot and match it with your favorite coffee in the morning.
I’ve learned today, of my 3 years of living (with parents) in Calamba Laguna that Mamon is also known here as Kalahe. I’ve searched on google the keyword “kalahe mamon” if it’s true… Then found only 1 search (ranks 3 on google, try it) when I clicked on the link, I was redirected on a forum and found nothing. So I wrote this post for it can be found in the web too. (haha do I make sense?)
If it’s well known as kalahe then why the others didn’t know about it. They might not be a native Calambeño? Probably… And she said this is one of their delicacies too according to Mama’s friend, reason why she wanted us to try it. “Oh! Really? We can find mamon anywhere in the Philippines right?” I know that. This is a lot more different, maybe. Like I said, it could turn you into a “Mamon Eating Machine!”
and that explains why the pictures I found on google doesn’t match to this photo! This isn’t mamon or sponge cake. It’s KALAHE or muffin. A muffin. Okay got it. I was really confuse back there! Lol!

My Grocery Bag is Green.
I was in SM Calamba supermarket yesterday and I spotted in the corner, green bags with the “I Choose to Reuse” print. Yes it obviously caught my attention and I bought my very first SM Green Bag! Its cost is Php. 35.00 and I didn’t know that you’ll get 2 points to your SM Advantage Card everytime you bring this green bag as replacement to plastic bags when you went grocery shopping. Sad for me not getting the 2 points because I always miss to bring my advantage card. So then the old lady next to me asked the cashier if she can get my points, and she said yes (hmmm.. The old lady should’ve ask me next time :)
The Green Bag was launched last year, 2009. Its intention is to reduce customers’ use of plastics when they go shop to SM malls. Really cool to start eco-friendly life since I’m a trying hard living green person, lol!
My New Kodak Toy Camera!
I was supposed to buy a single use or a one time use camera but I have searched all camera shops in the town and found nothing. Living in a province is quite hard when it comes to shopping. You buy what is only available, you must not complain (or choose not to buy) No too many/big shopping malls like in the Metro. Plus a creepy movie house bonus! Haha! Ever tried going to a cinema alone? (I did) I mean all by yourself surrounded by empty seats. Tell me how you can enjoy your much awaited movie with this kind of scene. You alone, empty seats, darkness, cold breeze, zombie movie… Call me paranoid but it was really really scary. I had no choice!
So going back, I ended up buying an Analog Camera, A Kodak EC70. As I thought that it was, much wiser than buying a single use (which is true). There’s a 139 Peso difference between Kodak Fun Saver and Kodak EC70. Few peso difference but for a budget person like me, it is too much!
An hour later, I read from a blog that she have bought her EC70 for 460 pesos? I was like: “Huh! Grrrrrrr… Brr.. I bought it at 599! Tsss… I had no choice.” (to tell myself it’s fine) So, Fun Saver might really cost $5.20 or Php. 223; Anyway, I bought the Camera from Camera World.
With one Kodak Alkaline Battery and a 24 shot Kodak Ultramax Film.
Price: 599.00 Pesos
I’ll be using this as replacement to my Sony S60. Hopefully it can be repaired sooner.
So this means I can start food blogging? Hehe.. I guess. But entries will be publish late. :)
Pinoy Breakfast at L.A.
Well it’s hard to start food blogging when you don’t have a camera. My old camera is still in the repair shop at Quiapo Manila and Mang Jun is still trying his very best to fix it and find magnet to replace its rusty magnet. I’m still hoping it can be repaired and use that baby of mine again. *crossing fingers*
By now.. Let me share you about a food truck that travels around L.A.; I’ve watched it over the news, in TV Patrol. “Tapa Boy!”
It serves popular Filipino breakfast Tapsilog and of course Longsilog! In my mind I was like: Oh my! This is the food business I wanted too! …in the future, “Longsilogs Jeepney”. :D
I wanted to try their Longsilog Patty and I wish they’ll soon have a branch here in Manila.

Good Job guys!
